Phil DeGreg – Jazz Pianist, Composer, Educator

Welcome to my webpage. Here you can find out about my activities and projects, watch videos, and get in touch.

My Philosophy

As a musician, I love exploring, writing, and performing in many styles of the jazz tradition, and am always trying to expand my repertoire. My musical mission is simply to play music for people, to reach audiences where they are, and elevate their spirits. I seek out opportunities to collaborate with like-minded musicians in settings ranging from solo piano to big band.

My Teaching Background

After 27 years as professor of jazz studies at the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, I am now professor Emeritus (one perk is that they now give me free parking).

As a career teacher I am always seeking opportunities to clearly communicate about the music I play and am happy to share information with individuals or groups of any age. Please visit the Teaching tab on this site for free jazz educational materials I have developed over the years.
