Phil DeGreg has over thirty-five years experience as a jazz educator, beginning with road clinics with the Woody Herman band. He is Professor Emeritus from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory, having taught there for 27 years in the jazz studies program. Since the early 1980’s he has been continuously employed on the faculty of the famous Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshops, where he has developed skills in working with performing groups, master classes, and individuals. His background in the study of psychology helps Phil encourage and motivate students in addressing internal concerns like effective practicing and performance anxiety. He has appeared as a clinician/guest artist at many institutions and enjoys being of service when he visits.
